Youth Dialogue in Cox’s Bazar: Stories of Life in the Frame of Pictures

Youth Dialogue in Cox’s Bazar

A youth dialogue titled “Stories of Life in the Frame of Pictures” was held on Wednesday at Camp One East, Ukhiya, bringing together 30 young participants from both the Rohingya and host communities. The event was organized by Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) with support from Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie.

Speaking at the dialogue, Rohingya youth Hemayet Ullah said, “I want to show our life through pictures, so the whole world knows how we live.” His words reflected the central theme of the program, telling untold stories through photography.

Renowned photojournalist Jewel Shill of Prothom Alo and award-winning Rohingya photographer Abdullah joined the session, inspiring participants with their work and experience. “A single photograph can sometimes make people cry, and at other times, spark a movement for protest,” said Jewel Shill. Abdullah added, “When I capture my own struggles, it becomes a testimony of reality for the outside world.”

Project Manager Shihab Jishan said the initiative aimed to give young people a platform to express their lives, struggles, and aspirations. The event highlighted that photography can be more than art- it can serve as a tool for awareness, hope, and social change.
