As Bangladesh prepares for the upcoming national parliamentary election, the Police Headquarters has confirmed that 48,134 police officers have already completed specialized training designed to ensure the safety of voters and polling centers across the country.

According to officials, the comprehensive training programme began with a ‘Training of Trainers’ course held from August 31 to September 2, followed by district- and range-level sessions nationwide.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has directed all unit heads to strictly supervise the ongoing training process to maintain the highest level of professionalism during the polls. On November 2, the IGP personally visited Rajshahi and Bogura to observe field-level training and assess readiness on the ground.

The initiative aims to prepare police personnel to handle any potential security challenges and ensure that the election is conducted in a free, fair, and festive environment.

Earlier, Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury formally launched the training programme on September 7 at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium, Rajarbagh Police Lines.

Police officials said the training will continue until mid-January, marking the first time such a large-scale pre-election training has been organised for law enforcement in Bangladesh.

In total, around 1,50,000 police personnel are expected to be deployed nationwide during the upcoming election to safeguard polling stations, voters, and election materials.
