Bangladeshi cinema has added another international achievement to its growing list, with Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s film ‘Roid’ winning three awards at the 12th Mosaic International Film Festival in Canada.

The film earned recognition in three major categories, with Nazifa Tushi winning Best Actress for her portrayal of “Sadhur Bou”. Joaher Musavvir Jyoti received the Best Cinematography award, while Rasheed Sharif Shoaib was honoured for Best Music.

The latest recognition further strengthens the film’s position on the international festival circuit. ‘Roid’ was previously selected for the main competition section of the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Netherlands.

The film has also been chosen as Bangladesh’s official entry for the International Feature Film category at the Academy Awards, adding further significance to its growing international journey.

Directed by Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, ‘Roid’ explores the primal and timeless nature of love through themes of silence, human connection and evolution.

Nazifa Tushi and Mostafizur Noor Imran play the lead roles, while Gazi Rakayet and Ahsabul Yamin Riad are also part of the cast.

The three awards at the Canadian festival come as another notable milestone for ‘Roid’, which continues to draw international attention to Bangladesh’s contemporary film industry.
